No, no, nap, no

These days Little O is just growing up so fast. In fact, in his first week back at preschool, we had a call asking if we would like him to take up an available spot in the next class up from the following week. We jumped at the offer as all of his classmates from last year (except two, who he’s not so close to) were moving up to the next class, so he would stay with them.

One of the things about the next class up, however, is that they don’t nap in the daytime. They have a “rest time” when they can sleep if they feel like it, but our stubborn little boy has apparently decided that he no longer needs to sleep during the day – full stop. This has been going on, on and off, for some time anyway, but this total stop to sleeping during the day means that the last couple of hours before bedtime are torturous at the moment. He cries at the smallest things and the fact that we don’t have a car (he asks daily about this) sends him into the worst meltdown.

We are sure that this will all settle down once a couple of weeks have passed and he gets used to it but it’s hard to see him like this, so upset so often. And the worst thing is that he has made the decision himself.
